World record ski jump set at Whistler Sliding Centre

Roger Campbell of Vancouver, Canada broke the World Record Ski Jump at the Whistler Sliding Centre yesterday with an impressive jump of 240 meters. The Canadian biathlete was training in the Vancouver back country when he found himself lost in a sudden blizzard.

"I was just skiing around looking for a Tim Horton's eh, when I got lost and started skidding down a sheet of ice... next thing I know I was flying through the air". The Canadian's record setting jump was caught on tape by the Sliding Centre's $150 million state of the art camera system paid for by the Canadian National Skeleton Team.

Although excited about his accomplishment, the biathlete isn't about to consider a career change to Nordic Combined, or skeleton. "Ski around with a gun for an hour, then jump off a ski jump? Slide down an ice chute at 80 mph? No thanks. I hear no one watches those sports anyway." The previous World Record Jump was held by Canadian bobsledder Pierre Leuders.
